Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on heavy operating equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and more.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective solutions to ensure equipment efficiency.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential problems before they escalate.
  • Weld and create forms to fix equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Coordinate with Shop and Yard Managers to schedule and prioritize repairs based on company needs.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a mechanic working with heavy operating equipment.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other equipment components.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Yard Assistant/Maintenance Crew Leader

Job Summary:
The Yard Assistant performs a wide variety of functions. They must be flexible and self-motivated and be able to work with different supervisors and employees as required. They will also be responsible for performing landscape maintenance at our commercial and company owned properties. They will be under the direct supervision of the Shop Operation Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 
None.

Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Works closely with the shop operation manager assisting with the daily tasks of keeping the yard organized.
•    Must have the ability to understand verbal instructions and carry them out to completion.  
•    Must be able to prioritize tasks to meet with supervisor’s needs.
•    Must be able to recognize and resolve any safety issues in the yard.
•    Must understand the importance of maintaining yard space and keeping it clean and organized.
•    Must dispose of any/all trash that is found in the yard, trucks, and equipment.
•    May be required to assist with some field duties as needed.
•    May be asked to operate a pressure washer for long periods of time.
•    May be required to run errands, pick up parts, or other shop or office needs. 
•    Must be able to maintain our commercial or company owned properties as directed by the shop operations manager.
•    Must understand and work in accordance with our company core values. 
•    Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/ Abilities:
•    Basic understanding of trucks and equipment.

•    Must have a valid driver's license
•    Proficient in operation of all types of trucks and light and heavy equipment preferred.
•    Must have the ability to ask questions for clarification if they don’t fully understand a given task.
•    Able to work independently and identify and solve minor problems.
•    Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet supervisor’s needs. Attention to detail is a must.
Education and Experience:
•    High school graduate, or equivalent.
•    2 years of construction related work experience preferred. But willing to train right person.
Physical Requirements:
•    Prolonged periods of standing, sitting and working with equipment, 
•    Full time work week (40+ hours) May need to work some weekend hours.
•    Must be able to lift 60 pounds frequently.
